Welcome to Shada Vega Art

I am a newly self-taught disabled artist. My art, shaped by my lived experience as a disabled artist, celebrates individuality. It is a mix of graphite, watercolor, pen, and colored pencil that creates dynamic, emotionally charged pieces. These pieces express the beauty and darkness of the world, understanding the physical and emotional fragility and reflecting the tension between light and shadow. They symbolize the struggle and resilience of the human spirit, often speaking to those on the fringes and unapologetically showcasing the power in our flaws.

Through my mixed-media approach, I hope to give voice to those marginalized, those whose experiences are seen as too unconventional, too complex, or too gothic for the mainstream. My art is a rebellion against the idea of normalcy and a celebration of individuality. Each piece is a testament to resilience, offering a visual escape for those who feel different, complex, or even broken-reminding us that there is a strength in embracing our flaws.

My artworks have been in several galleries across the US for both online and in-person exhibits. In addition to being in galleries, I have been published in an art magazine and catalogs.

My dedication to the arts extends far beyond my studio walls. I am deeply embedded in both local and online art communities, volunteering my time and resources to support various community outreach programs and non-profits. By donating my artwork, prints, and supplies, I aim to uplift others. I also actively participate in artists' demonstrations. I am a proud member of the local artisans guild, fostering a sense of community and providing opportunities to inspire fellow artists.

I share my journey as a spoonie creative in my blog here and on substack.com. This blog chronicles my thoughts and experiences about how my illness has shaped my creativity.

I invite you to join me on a journey of creativity, connection, and community. Together, we can make a difference through the transformative power of art and the joy of creation.
